Detox

A Better Way to Take the First Step into Recovery
The FIrst Step

Detox

What is detoxification? Dictionary.com states it is a “process of removing toxic substances or qualities.” The idea is to safely remove a harmful substance or free someone from a drug or alcohol substance in the body from an addiction to the substance.

Alcohol Detox

Let’s begin by talking about alcohol. Detoxing from alcohol is very dangerous unless done with medical personnel in a safe medical detox facility, overseen by a doctor. With the proper medical care, withdrawal symptoms typically begin to subside within one to two weeks after beginning the detox process. Without the right medication and care, one can have seizures and other serious complications.  At New Time Recovery, if you come to us for alcohol, we will assist in getting you to a detox facility for 7-10 days before returning to us for treatment.

Opiate Detox

Opiate addiction is one of the hardest drugs to detox from because of the physical and mental withdrawal symptoms. Symptoms of opioid withdrawal include anxiety, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. They also include restlessness and sweating. It’s as though one had a flu. While symptoms can be severe, they aren’t life-threatening. Opioid addiction includes codeine, fentanyl, Vicodin, or heroin. “Many experts believe that both the pain of detox and the fear of that pain are one of the greatest barriers to patient detoxification and rehabilitation” (The Bridge-Rep.com).

At New Time Recovery, our approach is to help clients transition without becoming addicted to another substance (suboxone, Subutex, etc.) A new alternative cutting edge pain management device for withdrawal is the BRIDGE medical device.

The Bridge Device

This device is offering clients suffering from the pain of opiate withdrawal a powerful alternative to suffering through medication-assisted detox. “The BRIDGE works through neuro-stimulation and is an auricular peripheral nerve field stimulator that connects topically to the patient’s ear, blocking pain signals from getting through the brain” (The Bridge-Rep.com).

The BRIDGE is FDA cleared by the Drug and Food Administration and is minimally invasive to the client. It is showing a proven clinical track record and promises to have tremendous effect on detox and rehab protocols.
New Time Recovery is excited to be a part of introducing this new device to our clients to help get them through the first several days of detox.

The device is worn for 120 hours (5 days) and they are able to attend groups and function with their daily lives with minimal pain and suffering. Once a client has completed the 5 days, there are two options. The option that we offer includes transitioning to our Nexalin Treatment.

Nexalin Therapy

Nexalin is a FDA cleared, easy-to-administer treatment that offers clinicians a new way to help relieve clients suffering from anxiety, depression, and insomnia, all of which include emotional withdrawals from drugs and/or alcohol. “Evidence indicates that Anxiety, Depression and Insomnia can be caused by irregularities in the brain’s neurochemicals. Nexalin supports the normalization of these chemicals without medication and their undesired side effects.

The Nexalin device emits a patented, frequency-based waveform that interacts with the deep centers of the mid-brain. Clinical research indicates that the process of normalizing various neurotransmitters in the brain may support a reduction in patient reported symptoms” (Nexlin.com).
